Crane Safety Awareness on Construction Sites
Since 2001 there have been 61 accidents involving tower cranes. 9 people have died, and 25 have been seriously injured. Tower and mobile cranes are used extensively on construction projects and present a number of potential hazards.
This half day Training Course is designed to enable delegates to understand the types of cranes currently used in Construction, hazards when cranes are operating on site, legal duties of the crane hirer and the crane user, safe operating practices and signals, crane supervision and contract lifts.

- Statutory Instruments (HSWA / PUWER / LOLER and other relevant legislation).
- Types of Crane and Uses
- Hazards and Risks to be considered
- Safe Systems of Work / Physical Measures / Operational Measures
- Safe Operating Practices and Signals
- Contact Lifts
- Theoretical Test (Multiple Choice)
- Course Critique
- Appraisals
Training Method:
Classroom based session. Instructor will use a PPT Presentation. Delegates complete a pre theory test paper to ascertain knowledge base, plus a post theory test paper, which is 15 question multiple choice. 11 out of 15 is the minimum pass mark.
Any delegate not achieving the minimum pass mark will be offered to resit the test on the day, after the Instructor has reviewed any areas answered incorrectly on the first test paper.
