Who Should Attend?
Duty Holders – any persons with responsibilities for maintaining and repairing all or part of a property, or has control of a building.
If this applies to you, then you should now be complying with Regulation 4 of the Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 2006 (CAWR 2006).
What is “Regulation 4”?
This Regulation places a legal requirement on “duty holders” of non-domestic premises to assess whether there is any asbestos in their premises, and, depending on its condition, either remove or manage it. They must also ensure that maintenance or other activities carried out subsequently do not expose the workers to any avoidable risk. They must ensure that information on the location and condition of the asbestos is clearly identified, prioritised, recorded and periodically monitored.
Course Content:
The course provides comprehensive information on how to assess whether premises contain asbestos, how to assess the risks from asbestos and how to manage those risks to ensure that you as a duty holder are compliant with current regulations. The course covers:
- The properties of asbestos and effects on health and interaction with smoking
- Types, uses and risks of Asbestos Containing Materials (ACM’s) in buildings and plant
- Current Legislation and guidance, including minor works
- Asbestos Surveys – Types, Planning, Reports and Sampling
- Developing a Management Plan and understanding Asbestos Registers
- Assessing the condition of the ACM’s and prioritising actions
- Managing asbestos removal contractors
- Monitoring and reviewing of a Management Plan
