Portable Appliance Testing

Portable Appliance Testing Operative Training

Introduction:

This course is aimed at fulfilling the Electricity at Work regulations. The half day course enables participants to evaluate practical aspects of testing by ways of fulfilling testing needs and record keeping. In addition, typical faults and problems are analysed, highlighting best practice and ensuring thorough understanding of the subject.

The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER), demands that users of work equipment are adequately trained, for the purposes of health and safety. The aim of this course is to train people in the skills and knowledge needed to achieve the standards of competency required to carry out portable appliance testing in the workplace.

Course Objectives:

On completion of this course the trainee will be able to identify the different classes of electrical equipment, understand the tests which are required to be carried out, and how to run an effective record system.

The training is intended to benefit individuals involved in carrying out or managing portable appliance testing.

Training Method:

This is a Half Day classroom based course, with assessments. Delegates will be required to carry out Class 1 and Class 2 Appliance Tests and complete a written test paper.
