Chainsaw Operative Training

Introduction:

The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER r9(1)) requires that users of Work Equipment be adequately trained for the purposes of health and safety. This also applies to persons who manage or supervise people at work (PUWER r9(2)). The aim of this one day course is to train people in the skills and knowledge needed to achieve the standards of competency required to carry out pre-use inspection and safe and correct use of Petrol and Electric Chainsaws in the workplace.

Course Objectives:

On completion of this course the trainee will be able to identify defects which is the purpose of the inspection to discover and to have a basic understanding of the safe and correct use of Chainsaws at work. This course will also cover the basic requirements of the: Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Personal Protective Equipment Regulations 1992 (PPE Regulations), The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH Regulations), The Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005 and the Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005 (with reference to HAVS).

Training Method:

This is a One Day classroom based “Safe and Correct Use” Course. Delegates will not be required to bring their own chainsaws or PPE, as they will not be operating chainsaws on the day.
