PASMA Mobile Access Towers on Stairs - Operator Training Programme

Introduction:

The Work at Height Regulations 2005 require that every employer shall ensure that no person engages in any activity, including organisation, planning and supervision, in relation to work at height or work equipment for use in such work unless he is competent to do so or, if being trained, is being supervised by a competent person. The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 require that user of work equipment receive "adequate" training. The aim of this course is to instruct an operator to safely erect, use, move and dismantle a mobile access tower on Stairs, and to reach the required standard to obtain a five year PASMA certificate of competence and I.D. card.

Who will benefit from this course:

Personnel whose work involves using towers on stairs

Learning Objectives:

How to safely assemble, dismantle, alter, use and inspect without risk of personal injury to the delegate or others

PASMA Course Entry Criteria:

You must hold a current PASMA "Towers for Users" Photocard and have a good working knowledge of working at height 

The programme will consist of the following subjects:

Current Legislation, Regulations and Guidance affecting working at height with access towers, PASMA Code of Practice; Product Standards EN 1004:2004; BS 1139 Part 6, assembling, altering and dismantling towers incorporating current best practice for fall protection, inspection of completed access towers and completion of Tower Inspection Records; hazards affecting the use of towers on stairs.

Training Method:

Instruction in both theory and practical sessions

Assessment: Closed book course with a pass mark of 80% in both theory and practical

Personal Protective Equipment:

Suitable head / foot protection, high vis vest / jacket and gloves during the practical session (other protection as per site requirements).

Duration:

This is a 1 day course - 08:30 – 16:30
