Employers have a duty to consult with their employees, or their representatives, on health and safety matters. This course is aimed at Safety Representatives, Representatives of Employee Safety, Members of Safety Committees, Anyone involved in Workplace Health & Safety Consultation and discusses what they need to do to ensure they are complying with the law.
This one day safety representatives training course provides an understanding of the roles of health and safety representatives and of safety committees. A well trained and properly motivated health and safety representative will make a positive contribution to an organisations safety culture.
Although the course does not require any preparation, it would be useful for the delegate to be familiar with their company’s Health & Safety Policy and Safety Committee arrangements.
Delegates completing the course will receive a Safetymen Certificate of attendance in Safety Representatives in the Workplace.

Course Objectives
Understand the role and responsibilities of Safety Representatives Delegates learn the functions, duties, and objectives of a Safety Representative, including how safety committees operate and how representatives contribute to them.
Develop a solid foundation in health & safety principles This includes understanding why working safely matters, the consequences of unsafe practices, and the fundamentals of accident prevention.
Differentiate between hazards and risks Learners gain the ability to define hazards, assess risks, and recognise common workplace hazards
Improve safety performance in the workplace Training covers how to identify improvements, implement workplace precautions, and contribute to better overall safety performance
Understand legal requirements and health & safety law Delegates learn the main legal duties, including civil and criminal law, codes of practice, and employer/employee responsibilities
Participate effectively in consultation and communication The course builds skills for engaging with employees and management on safety matters, ensuring meaningful consultation.

- Valid Photo ID - For example Passport or Driving License
- Clean comfortable clothing, suitable for classroom
- Lunch, if attending a full day at our Training Centre (although there are many local eateries nearby) - tea and coffee are provided
